Breaking months of media silence, Myung Whun Chung has told Korean journalists that he intends to file law suits against those who accused him of cheating on his expenses at the Seoul Philharmonic.

Yesterday, an auditor who investigated ten years of the conductor’s expenses cleared him of any wrongdoing. The charge was laid by supporters of a disaffected former manager of the orch.

Good for him! I wish him the fullest compensation.

Bravo! I am sure Chung does not need the cash, but the now disgraced Ms Park needs more than a dash of humiliation for the arrogance, spite and venom with which she pursued Chung. And it will do little harm that the Korean media will come out of this with egg all over their collective faces (not that that will stop them from printing rubbish in future, alas).

The least South Korea can do now is to get down on its knees in shame, and beg for the great maestro to return.
