Hilary slays Berlin in last concerts before birth

Christiane Peitz in the Tagesspiegel says Ms Hahn had the Philharmonic audience at her feet in the penultimate concert before she retires to give birth to her first child. ‘An unbelievable woman,’ raves Christiane. Read her review here (auf Deutsch).

    I’m assuming that Ms. Hahn will be returning to performance after giving birth. If so, she will be on maternity leave, not retired.

      Oh! Come on! “Retires to give birth to her first child” is perfectly acceptable English and in no way connected to the use of the word as in retiring from a career!
