Tania Stavreva (piano) Once & Only in London

Comments

  • Robert Hairgrove says:

Pancho Vladigerov was the most important teacher of Alexis Weissenberg before he emigrated to Palestine during WWII. If I were in London, I would probably go just to hear his compositions. It is a fascinating program, all in all.

I just hope that Ms. Stavreva will wear something a bit more “substantial” while performing, otherwise the audience won’t be able to concentrate on the music-making! 🙂

  • Roy Lisker says:

Normally, seducers are motivated by the need to steal from you or betray you in some way. Lets hope this doesn’t carry over to the concert.

  • jaypee says:

All she needs to do is to post a couple of racist and offensive comments and she will get all the attention she needs. Better, some people will even defend her.

  • john humphreys says:

Well, here we are in the 21st century….’music’ assuming a secondary place to the lithesome, the physical, the….(how shall we say?) pornographic. No objection to the latter but not when it conflicts with what purports to be ‘high art’. Keep the two stimuli separate please!

  • Max Grimm says:

Maybe her attire and posture have been inspired by Khatia Buniatishvili…

  • Greg says:

Well, she’s trying to make a living, she needs attention, and she gets it. And Eastern European style is indeed very different from the Western “I’m so thoughtful and deep, look at my brown eyes” photos. Program is nice, and she is probably a good pianist. Now, onto the announcements of unknown musicians getting engaged, married or divorced, please!

  • Stephen says:

I really can’t see anything wrong with a woman wanting to look seductive. In fact, I think there’d be something wrong with her if she didn’t. Anyway, as far as I’m concerned it’s a plus point. And do you know Olga Scheps? She’s made a few excellent records, looks beautiful and dresses tastefully.

    • Ed says:

Do you know Yuja Wang? She looks beautiful and seductive.

      • Stephen says:

Yes indeed. On the other hand, HJ Lim, who is attractive enough, made a not very satifactory set of the Beethoven Sonatas and disappeared from sight. A blunder on the record company’s part.

  • William Safford says:

She should find someone new to do the Photoshopping of her photos. Ugh.

  • Danielle says:

If it bothers you close your eyes! One of the reasons Classical music continues to lose future potential patrons is that the industry and classical music enthusiasts are perennially associated with sour, snobby, prude and priggish people–and several of these comments reinforce that stereotype. Applaud the young musicians who attempt to relate to their generation and for heavens sake, she isn’t even anywhere near as provocatively dressed as Rap or Pop stars. And so what if she was–does it change the quality of her performance? What difference does it make?
