After a brief stage career – she retired at 25, in 1938 – Galina Petrova became one of Moscow’s most sought-after dance teachers. She taught until 1957 at the Moscow Ballet Academy and from 1953 to 1989 she coached at the Bolshoi Theatre. Students and divas alike waited hours in line for her lessons.
