From the East London and West Essex Guardian:

A second world-famous conductor has backed a campaign to fight off cuts to a music service which educates tens of thousands of children each year.

Principal conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Simon Rattle, pledged his support over the weekend after performing with Redbridge Music Service (RMS) students at the Barbican Centre.

    Scary face.

Good for Sir a Simon! At last – a prominent person not afraid to stick his neck out.

Certainly the money would be better spent on a music service to encourage children, rather than another concert hall for London – ‘world-class’ or not….

Yes, well said ! I don’t understand why the Barbican acoustics are seen as a show-stopper. Surely an LSO with SIr S at the helm would be spending a lot of time touring at these great halls like Musikverein, Concertgebouw, Boston, Berlin and so on ?
It’s not like they’re at the Barbecue Center every week of the year.

  • Elizabeth Owen says:

It’s quite funny really. Rattle clicks his fingers and the politicians are running round like headless chickens.
