We hear that Vladimir Fedoseyev was rushed to a Moscow hospital last weekend in a serious condition. He is 82.

  • Peter Donohoe says:

That is very sad. Maestro Fedosayev was a relatively new conductor on the Soviet scene when he was invited to conduct the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition finals in 1982; an extremely difficult job – having to cope with the likes of myself and twelve other very tense finalists, and with nowhere near enough rehearsal time. His extraordinary conducting certainly contributed enormously, and I will always associate his name with that amazing day in my life.

Norman – you do not say what his illness is, but I do hope he will recover, and wish him the best of all possible wishes.
