Alexander Trauner, who has died in Zurich of a prolonged illness, started out in Vienna at the Volksoper and Staatsoper, working with such conductors as  Colin Davis, Marek Janowski,  George Pretre, Erich Leinsdorf and Udo Zimmermann.

He went on to sing in France, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, Romania and Spain.

Alexander leaves a wife and two children.
