Comments

  • Darren says:

    Ridiculous.

  • Halldor says:

No reason why it should be any more ridiculous for Iceland to produce a fine concert pianist, than any other European country.

  • Darren says:

Please, don’t understand my comment wrongly. It had nothing to do with Iceland whatsoever. Who is this pianist however? He neither has won big competitions ( which is not crucial at all for a career, but aids young people to make a name for themselves) neither has he performed with major orchestras or conductors. There is a good number of upcoming, young pianists that have a bigger reputation that him and play more concerts internationally. Many will wonder what went on here. I assume it was Ashkenazy’s Icelandic connection, Ashkenazy recommended him and Jasper didn’t say no. Whether this will in fact play a significant role in this musicians future is yet to be determined. An agency deal does not automatically mean a fruitful career will be developed. Only time can tell, and we certainly wish him the best.

    • Michael Schaffer says:

You wish him the best by calling his getting signed by a major agency “ridiculous”? And time only can tell, but you already decided this is “ridiculous”?
      Strange logic, dude…

  • Rodrigo says:

Really, Darren? I suggest you listen to the pianist before conjuring up conspiracy theories. I haven’t heard this kind of Bach in years.

  • Mark Stratford says:

Watch him playing first movement of Grieg concerto here
