Polish composers have been heard loud and clear in the modern era. All but one. She happens to be a woman.

And quite exceptional in many ways. Very hard to resist.

Dear Norman, thank you for spreading the news about my newest CD. I am delighted you appreciate the art of Grazyna Bacewicz. In spite of the few recordings mentioned above her name is not really well known outside of Poland. In the United States very few conductors and instrumentalists are aware of her impressive output. I really hope that the exposure offered by Naxos will help to introduce her music to new audiences. I am planning more recordings in the future. Best regards, Mariusz Smolij

Thank you very much for ginving attention to this wonderful music and this excellent recording.

Krystian Zimerman made a major Bacewicz-recording a couple of years ago:
http://www.deutschegrammophon.com/html/special/zimerman-bacewicz/ and included pieces of her in his recitals (solo musci and chamber music, including the 1st paionquintet). He opened my ears for Bacewicz.

Good to hear that there is more to come.
