At a time when most papers are laying off arts writers, we are delighted to learn that the Toronto Star has appointed a new music critic.

He is our longterm associate Michael Vincent, publisher of Musical Toronto.

    It’s such a relief that they replaced John Terauds. I couldn’t stomach his writing, and I know I’m not the only one. Good for the Toronto Star. There’s so much music in Toronto, it deserves to be covered.

      I rather liked John Teraud’s work.

      In any case, it is indeed good that the Star is doing this. Especially since The Globe & Mail, now being (at least notionally) a national newspaper, doesn’t seem to be covering Toronto arts quite as thoroughly as it once did.
