UMG’S EMI RETURNS TO CHINA AND SOUTH EAST ASIA WITH A-MEI, SHOW LO AND RAINIE YANG

Taipei, June 30, 2014 – The legendary label EMI is making history once again in China and South East Asia with the signing of Mandopop superstar A-Mei as well as the popular artists Show Lo and Rainie Yang, as part of its revival and return to the region. The announcement was made at a press conference here today at the launch of the new EMI China.

EMI ended much of its operations in Asia over five years ago but in 2012 the company was acquired by Universal Music Group and UMG has been investing in and reinvigorating the storied label ever since.

Max Hole, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group International said: “EMI’s heritage in the region makes this is a very exciting re-launch.  At Universal Music we’re huge believers in the potential for the music business in China and the importance of investing in local artists. A-Mei, Show Lo and Rainie Yang are such talented artists that I’m delighted they have agreed to join us in the new EMI China.”
