15 Union contracts (out of 16) at the Met expire on July 31st. All 15 are ranting at Gelb’s mismanagement, some not yet publicly.
What ever the arguments, rights and wrongs, opinions etc. the consequences of a strike on all concerned will be devastating to all concerned, especially the public. The parties should work out their differences out of the media spotlight and remember there is no service to art without the public, which, historically speaking is slow to return after a strike. The audience for opera should not be taken for granted !
