Death of a young cellist: autopsy results
mainShocked and devastated by the sudden death of Dmitri Volkov at 26 last weekend, friends and family last night received the autopsy results.
Baltimore Medical Examiner Bruce Goldfarb found that Dmitri, who was discovered dead in bed at noon on Friday, suffered from an undetected heart defect, possibly from birth. Cause of death: cardiac dysrhythmia.
His body will be flown home to Tolyatti, in Russia, for burial. The Heifetz International Music Institute at Mary Baldwin College where Volkov was artist in residence is covering the costs of repatriation.
Absolutely tragic. Such a wonderful person and incredible musician. How lucky we were to have Dima in our lives, if only for such a short time.
