We’re delighted to find Jonny Greenwood’s Suite from There Will Be Blood in the coming season’s MusicNOW program.

Also in the lineup are an Anna Clyne world premiere (go, Anna!) and a splash of John Zorn.

They’ve come a long way since the Solti days. Details below.

Comments

  • Anna says:

Why the misleading title? To get more click only? Chicago Symphony are to play Jonny Greenwood’s Suite from There Will Be Blood, and not Radiohead.

  • Bella says:

Greenwood’s soundtrack to There Will be Blood is like its own character in the movie, truly extraordinary.

  • Chris says:

I think Chicago Symphony should consider displaying both the first and last names of living composers.

  • Eric says:

I agree with “Anna”: they are playing Greenwood and not Radiohead. There is a big distinctive difference. Jonny Greenwood has a successful side career as a composer, and that work is not affiliated with Radiohead. The same distinction would apply with Bryce Dessner. If his work was being played, it would be inaccurate to say that music by The National was being performed.
