Barenboim concerts in Turkey are cancelled
mainDaniel Barenboim’s Istanbul debut with the Staatskapelle Berlin has been called off at the last minute amid civil unrest over the mining disaster. The Turkish government has declared three days of national mourning. The Berlin State Opera director Jürgen Flimm said that German musicians wish to show sympathy for the suffering of their Turkish colleagues.
German decision is very appropriate. We should be in mourning the victims of the accident.
