He has already won the 2012 Grawemeyer for his violin concerto, the biggest prize for a living composer.

Today he follows up with the Nemmers, worth $100k plus a performance with the Chicago Symphony. Nice one, E-P.

I hope he follows Taylor Swift and gives it away to a deserving charity, musician or orchestra. He is already earning megabucks and doesn’t need $100,000. Seriously, it’s probably a couple of days’ work in some parts of the world for him.

Why are these huge awards given to people that really don’t need the money? *Yo Yo Ma* Whether or not it is deserved is not the question here. Salonen is a great musician and composer but it really is small change to him.
