Mark Lawson has stepped down from Radio 4’s Front Row after 16 years. He has been rested on medical grounds for the past month.

The official story is full of smoke, mirrors and lawyer-proofed hints. The decision for Mark to leave was ‘a joint agreement with the BBC’.

I have known Mark for all the time he has been on Front Row and never had anything but agreeable experiences with him. At 52, he is a gifted commentator and interviewer who will soon find other outlets for his proven skills.

Yes, there’s obviously more behind this than the obfuscating announcement. I hope Mr. Lawson is in good health, and is back on air again soon. He’s an excellent presenter: erudite & informed.

I agree totally with what Ziggy says. I have listened to Mark since Front Row first started and will miss him greatly (used to like him on the telly – Late Review – too).

Is there a public statement anywhere giving his own version of the story? I would sure love to hear HIS side of it. Failing that, over to you Norman, to keep us informed.
