The worst job in the orchestra world?

The Malaysia Philharmonic are advertising in the Guardian for a head of artistic administration and a head of orchestral management. Since the orch is under an international boycott and known for firing foreigners without notice, the ads sound more like an invitation to career suicide.

  • Let’s all recommend Michael Henson for the job, because there will be more than a few of us here in the Twin Cities calling for him to relinquish his job with the Minnesota Orchesta

  • Orchestral management anywhere is career suicide. Might as well do it for lots of money in a tropical paradise, than for a joke salary in a grey British city…
