One of the French networks has retrieved extraordinary video of our friend,  the great violinist Ivry Gitlis, on an ethnomusical exhchange with tribal musicians in the heart of Africa. Enjoy.

    I don’t see much of an exchange going on here, let alone an ethnomusical one. Just him showing up with his camera team and reducing the surprised and bewildered locals to extras, a background cast for this fashionable “look how I am bridging the cultures on TV” exercise.
