On a day when Australia blew away England’s batting, a violinist has stepped up to claim the fastest-ever flight of the bumblebee. Never mind the intonation. Just be awed by the speed. This is Vov Dylan, 32, also known as Australia’s Andre Rieu.

Violinist

Ahem. He’s still three seconds slower than the world record-holder, Ben Lee. Who is English.

  • Mairi says:

Isn’t Ben Lee an Aussie too?

  • istrings4Nandor Szederkenyi says:

    This is simply AMATEUR!

  • I can play you the Minute Waltz in 35 seconds. It’ll sound awful, with half the notes missing and fistfuls of wrong ones to boot, but that won’t matter, will it?

    • Herbert Pauls says:

Moritz Rosenthal, when he attended Liszt’s late masterclasses, could play the Minute Waltz in under a minute in double thirds.

  • Gritenez says:

Yea, a couple notes belong to the Flight of the Bumblebee, but 99% of it is a complete mess, doesn’t qualify for any record other than Most Deluded Violinist.

  • Sahatci says:

It is really interesting to play fast?

    • Martin says:

Is it really interesting to run 100 metres in under 10 seconds? I find not, but well- i need 2 minutes for 100 metres. Which might be a tad too Celibedache.

  • Checked the date. Still not April 1st. Stand back please, and let the real musicians through: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB3Uau-6T6s

  • Speed is the enemy of emotion.

  • Can’t hold a candle to Sharon Bezaly’s version, and she plays the correct tones as well. BIS-1679 SACD

  • Doug says:

Sorry, but it sounds like a sloppy mess.

  • Alexandre Davense says:

It’s fast, but this scintillating performance of The Flight of the Bumblebee by the former world record holder – British violin virtuoso Oliver Lewis – on BBC1’s ‘I Love My Country’ very recently is actually considerably faster than the current so called record of Lee (who glissandos a lot of passages on one finger rather than actually fingering the notes!) http://youtu.be/z0GdtNcP8sU

  • I like the way the guitarist looks so cool while he is playing so fast.
