Juilliard names Euro star as professor of composition

Matthias Pintscher, music director at Ensemble Intercontemporain, has announced that he’s to be professor of composition in New York from September 2014. The catch? Student registrations close next week.

    His website announces that he is a visiting teacher in conducting for the Dept. of Orchestral Studies as of September 2013 (confirmed by various Juilliard items) I can not find any mention of a composition appointment on the Juilliard or Pintscher sites. If true that he will join the composition faculty, the timing is fine because applications close next week, not registration (which is for accepted and returning students). I urge caution on this until Juilliard makes an official announcement.

      Matthias announced it himself, on his personal Facebook page, that he will be professor of COMPOSITION… and thanked the current composition faculty by name (Christopher Rouse, Robert Beaser and John Corigliano) for their support.
