Despite widespread reports of crashing internet connections, all 10,000 tickets put online for next summer’s Bayreuth Festival have sold, we hear, in 90 minutes.

There is now a followup online scramble to book hotel rooms. Not for everyone, of course.

  • Not quite. I’ve got my tickets at 9.30, which was some 3,5 hrs after the start of sale. and there are still some tickets being sold on line right now (12:00)

I must have got one of the last at 6.40pm! Mortgaged the house -:)

  • The website was completely screwed up until around 75-80 minutes after it first opened, and from then on it started working and I was able to complete my order in less than 5 minutes.

Many thanks NL for alerting us! We got tickets. Can’t wait to see and hear my favorite composer.

  • Sadly, for me getting tickets was not an option since it greatly exceeded the family budget. If Bayreuth only hadn’t given such a short notice I might have collected some extra cash…Nevertheless, thank you for the heads-up, Mr.Lebrecht.

    • I think they’ll be doing this from now on, so you can plan for the 2015 festival: New production of Tristan und Isolde (Gould, Westbroek cond. Thielemann); revivals of The Ring (cond. K. Petrenko), Flying Dutchman (cond. Thielemann) and Lohengrin, though this latter not conducted by Andris Nelsons.

  • It would be great if it became a regular occurence. I’ll begin stashing as of now, just in case. 🙂

  • Tony says:

Revisiting their website I won’t be able to log on until Monday due to urgent maintenance. Looks like we blew up their computer.
