Why did Indy boss leave without goodbye?
mainThe official version was that Simon Crookall resigned of his own accord after seven fruitful years at the Inidianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
Slipped Disc didn’t buy that.
Now, the Indy Star won’t either. It reports he left practically under cover of night, without so much as goodbye to his staff.
There are questions here that need answering.
This smacks of the same ‘intrigue’ by which ISO dismissed its former (and excellent) music director, Mario Venzago. That debacle appears to have been orchestrated by ‘maestro’ Crookall, at least in the words of former maestro Venzago [http://www.musicalamerica.com/news/printarticle.cfm?sid=21742&cid=5&arc=0]. ISO is a fine orchestra, if not at the level of Cleveland or SF, certainly in a league with Cincinnati and Detroit. Sadly, ISO’s management appears not to be of the same calibre.
