French town gets an American chief for culture year
mainLawrence Foster, who used to be close by at Monte Carlo, has been named music director of the philharmonic orchestra in Marseille. For the past decade, he’s been chief conductor at the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon. Foster starts at Marseille in September. The town becomes European capital of culture in 2013.
