The story of the Chilean miners trapped underground for 17 days has been made into a concert oratorio by composer James McCarthy. It makes a lovely noise and will be premiered on February 5 at the Barbican by the Crouch End Festival Chorus. Watch first rehearsal video here.

  • Malcolm James says:

Correction – it was more like 70 days than 17.

  • Sally Hall says:

The miners became trapped on 5th August 2010 7kn underground. For 17 days, nothing was heard from them as frantic rescue efforts went on but in the 17th day, a probe sent down deep into the earth came back with a note attached to it, saying that all 33 miners were alive and safe.
