Someone sent me a video of a senior lecturer at Hunter College. Senior? She’s 100 years old.

Her name is Belle Kaufmann and she’s a granddaughter of the foremost Yidish storyteller, Sholom Aleichem.

What a beautiful story. And unfortunately I haven’t read anything he wrote yet. I’ll go hit the book stores tomorrow! 😉

    Wonderful.

  • FYI, Norman, it’s spelled “Bel Kaufman,” and she’s a fine writer in her own right, notably of the well-regarded (in the US, at least) novel Up the Down Staircase.
