Iraq's finest head for Beethoven Fest

The National Youth Orchestra of Iraq make their overseas debut at the Beethoven Fest in Bonn on October 1. Started by a 17 year-old Baghdad pianist, Zuhal Sultan, the band has 33 musicians from all war-torn parts of the country and is conducted by a Scotsman, Paul MacAlindin.

If ever an orchestra needed our support, it’s this one.

  • Ah! How wonderful to see this happening. Lots more of this kind of news would be more than welcome, instead of the “stuff” we see on TV daily. Too bad so few of our government officials even know who Beethoven is or have experienced what he can do for each of us. That is where the problem truly lies.
