The latest recruits to the international campaign to save the infrastructure of Dutch arts from being slaughtered by Government cuts are the orchestras of Casa da Music in Porto, itself suffering severe subsidy shrinkage. The Portuguese performance of Soldier of Orange is conducted by Jorma Panula – a rare chance to see the great maker of Finnish maestros in action.

The other protestor is the Nordic Youth Orchestra in Lund, Sweden, conducted by Stefan Solyom, who articulates an eloquent defence of orchestras. Do have a listen

This is a video we just made in support of our Dutch colleagues – Soldier of Orange – for the orchestras of the Netherlands http://bit.ly/qy9fml

I arranged Otterloo’s score for a chamber orchestra (senza drums) to fit an already scheduled CD recording session. We hope it will do some good.
