I’m not sure this is the textbook way to launch a new product, but it caught my attention and it might well engage yours.

Hilary has 72,400 Twitter followers. Anne-Sophie Mutter has 2,864.

    Nice earrings.

Hilary Hahn has gone back to Bach and moved from DG to Decca. This new Bach release is a Decca label release. Not that it matters to me. Decca is perfectly fine for me, but currently seems to be in worse shape than DG.

But I have never really understood, read about or been able to figure out what the differences (direction or difference in strategy) are between these labels within Universal. Are they competing within the same corporation (may the best win, sort of) or what?

Universal has always baffled me as well. Other instances being the quiet disappearance of Philips with reissues of that material under Decca, and the bizarre emergence of “Decca Gold.”

  • Jasper says:

Very much look forward to these recordings.

Apologize to anyone who views the following as sexist, but Ms. Hahn is delightfully attractive, feminine, and personable in this Twitter video snippet. (And yes, those are great earrings.)

While she doesn’t do anything for me (looks wise), I am not sure it really matters, especially when listening to a recording. In the end, I think, I am listening to the music and even at concerts I mostly attend for musical reasons.

  • Lawrence says:

ASM does not Tweet. She is on Facebook all the time, but not Twitter. So this (yet again) dig at ASM is nonsense!

  • Robert Roy says:

One morning, years ago, my radio alarm went off and Ilay in a half stupor listening to unaccompanied Bach. It took no time at all before I was fully awake and desperate to know who the violinist was. On my way to work I purchased the cd from HMV and never really stopped playing it.

I’m so glad Hilary is completing her cycle although I do wish she’d re-recorded the works on that initial disc since I’m sure her perspective must have changed in that time.

    Something to look forward to.

Yeah, me too. At first I thought she was recording the whole Sonatas & Partitas. Well, one can’t have it all…

  • muslit says:

    who cares

    • Robert Roy says:

Well, obviously not you. So why don’t you stop wasting YOUR time and energy on leaving silly posts that simply show your lack of command of the English language?

  • Joel Lazar says:

Her concert performance of the Chaconne at the Kennedy Center a a few years back was awe-inspiring…

  • Sue says:

Gorgeous, talented musician. Best of luck to her!
