Rox Panufnik wins US orchestra commission

Marin Alsop and the Baltimore Symphony have announced the world premiere in March 2019 of a work by the London-based composer Roxana Panufnik.

Also on Baltimore’s season schedule is the US premiere of a piece by UK composer Helen Grime.

    Conclusion: the females are not to be outdone by the male competition, and can do as well, so it would not make any difference if the usual contemporary music would be entirely replaced by female music.

    If only her father’s music was getting performed as much. He was a major talent, now overlooked. At least she keeps the family name alive. Is her music nearly as good?
