Scotland’s Sistema orchestra faces 50 percent cut

The Big Noise orchestra in Raploch, Stirling, which has been conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, seems likely to lose half of its local authority funding.

Supporters are raising the alarm.

    Sistema Scotland has been given a free pass by the media, like (until very recently) its Venezuelan parent organisation. It has received privileged treatment from a funding perspective as well. But it is a very expensive programme, so it was likely to come under financial pressure sooner or later. And is it all that it’s cracked up to be?
