Tulsa honours its Russian poet

A music director in the Oklahoma city, Andres Franco, had been working on ways to celebrate its most famous resident, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, when the Russian poet sadly died in Aprial.

Undaunted, Franco went ahead with a memorial concert this weekend.

    I participated in this concert. It was my first time in Tulsa, and my first experience with Signature Symphony. Maestro Franco is an energetic, focused and exacting musician, with what appears to be an easy connection to his players and the community.

    Both the orchestra and the Signature Chorale were terrific in the Shostakovich cantata.
