Richly deserved. I remember attending a performance of Don Giovanni at the Royal Opera House some years ago and not having a programme. The lady singing Elvira and her very Handelian arias struck me as magnificent – she would be terrific in real Handel, thought I – and when I finally read a cast seat it was the Joyce herself.
