Analysis by data scientist Dr Abigail Lebrecht reveals that the country is so divided that no party can win an election by relying exclusively on Leave or Remain voters.

Off-topic, perhaps, but political dynamite.

By Abigail Lebrecht? Nice nepotism, Norman.

I do understand your wife’s ( daughter) worries ( about labourists or tories 😉 ) , any way I try to keep the position “ars longo vita brevis”, so a bit safer than you in that political storms and hurricanes ….. just my opinion, of course …..

  • Steven Holloway says:

I rather think that most people are aware, for it is a matter of very basic common sense, that no matter how or by what a country may be divided, it is an equally basic error to campaign on one issue. Doing so will only win you one-issue voters, and that won’t do at all. Not only is it not political dynamite to say so, it’s a damp squid that requires no input from data ‘science’, i.e., statistical mathematics and that comes not in the domain of science. And now back to music (I sincerely hope).

Data, polls, surveys, etc. I think we’ve all seen and heard enough from the analysts using this junk social science trying to rig elections.

      +1

    • Robert Holmén says:

Yes, lets go back to class stereotypes and speculative ideologies to decide what the population is thinking and give up on all that numbery poll stuff.

      • Steven Holloway says:

Hmm. “…to decide what the population is thinking…” is not a bad way of describing the purpose of that ‘numbery poll stuff’ and other machinations. I should prefer to go back to leaving the members of electorate to decide for themselves, although that would also require just a touch of honesty and at least moderately clear enunciation of policies. We might be too far gone in obfuscation and Corporatism for that.

Thanks for an interesting article. And it is proper science.
