City of Edinburgh Music School, reportedly the only free music school of its kind in Europe, is to be shut in a new round of council cuts.

Parents are up in arms. The council says it will spread music teaching peripatetically across the city.

Thank you for highlighting this! Parents, students and supporters of the school are fighting this and have already succeeded in getting the Council’s Finance Committee to postpone until 7 November the discussion on putting this out to consultation. We have a week to try to make a difference – can you help spread the word and engage more voices? This would be incredibly helpful! Helen Wright @drhelenwright
