  • Ungeheuer says:

The Simone Kermes virus keeps spreading, I see. That said, fierce violinist, she. My advice, for what it’s worth: It’s not about you but music. Tone it down a notch or two or three. You will survive and do fine.

  • Robert Roy says:

She’s a wonderful artist in a world of Juilliard ‘identikit’ artists. No one told Jackie du Pre to ‘tone it down!’

    Be true to yourself, PatKop.

    • Richard Zencker says:

She definitely arouses strong opinions. I once asked a concertmaster who had just played the Beethoven concerto what he thought of her recording. That was unwise.

  • John Borstlap says:

It’s rather expensive cabaret: the conductor is paid a large sum, the soloist gets a fat fee, the rehearsels of the orchestra add to the expenses, and the result is something on the level of toddlers.

    • Nate says:

Oh Borsty. Never change! Your existence sounds joyless but I’m sure you will disagree.

      • John Borstlap says:

Oh but there is a lot of fun here, only a much cheaper type of fun, + drinks. The greatest fun we all share here after work, is reading comments on SD.

        • Steve P says:

“Borsty?” I’m not seeing it. But the parody video is hilarious.
When art music and performance art intermix, we sometimes get cringe-worthy moments. Doesn’t detract from commitment or honesty of the artist – but the incongruence of setting and drama is unsettling in is case.

  • V. Lind says:

As long as you all enjoys yourself.

    • Petros Linardos says:

I usually wonder why people talk about “seeing” a performance. Not in this case, since I can understand what I am seeing but not what I am hearing.

  • Dominique says:

    Emperor’s New Clothes.

  • I love this cutie!
We need more Musikerinnen who are not only a joy to watch, but also capable of thinking out of the box ~

  • Robert Holmén says:

Who is that inserted in the first video?

    • Stephen Owades says:

It’s a fellow named Salvatore Lombardo, who must fancy himself a great musical wit. It’s his YouTube posting that Mr. Lebrecht has given us—fortunately followed by PatKop’s marvelous performance. I’m not sure why Lombardo deserved the link and attention when the post isn’t about him.

  • Will Duffay says:

It’s obviously a highly theatrical piece. Looks and sounds very interesting. Good on her to enter into the spirit fully.

Shame about the idiotic goon in the first vid. Adds nothing.

  • M2N2K says:

Whatever amount of musical (and entertaining) value this excerpt contains, she certainly does it justice and then some. Well done, Patricia!

  • Bruce says:

I was impressed that she was to do all of those effects and gymnastics without breaking any bow hairs.

  • Cyril Blair says:

Where is Milka when you need her. (Him?)
