End of the line for an early music magazine

Rhinegold Publishing has let it be known that the quarterly Early Music Today is about to publish its last issue.

At which point Early will become late.

      Yes, it’s very sad isn’t it? I didn’t know about this particular magazine but reading online just isn’t the same. There is, I think, still the academic journal “Early Music” but you have to go to a university to read it. If there’s nothing of this type for a more general readership this seems unsatisfactory.

    To be more constructive: If Early Music Today is to publish its last issue as a stand alone magazine, perhaps something could be done to include an Early Music section in its ‘sister’ magazine “Classical Music”. I believe that has been done before, so why not again? It will also have the effect of placing Early Music into the mainstream, where it should and deserves to be.

    This must be in Europe as there is STILL no classical music magazine in the USA, despite the millions of potential readers for one.
