The international bass Enzo Dara has died in Mantua.

Brought to La Scala by Claudio Abbado in 1971 to sing Don Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia, he went on to perform many comic roles on the world stage.

Goodbye Enzo. I have worked 2 times with him and he was a fantastic musician but also a very good stage director. We have recorded also the Ape Musicale by Da Ponte. He was humble, kind, friendly. It is a very very sad new.

  2. Fernando says:

Very sad news! He was able to steal the scene as an excellent Don Magnifico in Rossini’s Cenerentola. This is a role I always associate with him.

  3. Mattia Battistini says:

One of the greatest (end funniest) bassi buffi, grazie mille Enzo!
