The violinist Wuilly Arteaga, who has been out every day playing in protests against Government oppression, was seized by police on Thursday and beaten with his own instrument, according to his friends.

‘They burned his hair with a lighter, beat him very hard, meaning that he can’t hear through his right ear,’ said Alfredo Romero, head of the Penal Forum rights group.

More than 100 civilians have been killed in the present unrest.

The country goes to elections today to vote on the president’s plan to change the constitution.

I see Corbyn has taken down the video that was circulating of him extolling the virtues of Venezuelan “socialism” and how this could be an “alternative way” for the UK. I would have more respect for the man if he stood up and defended Chavez / Maduro against the critics, but no, he slinks away and pretends he never said those things. My goodness what next?……….people will be saying that he told lies about student debts and not freezing benefits!

About time Me Cornyn spoke the truth and saw the light. One would have to be totally missinformed and blind to plead allegiance tobthe government and policies of a corrupt assasin. I don’t know where you are from but I am from Venezuela where we have a Narco regime. Read about the USA freezing the assets of most of Maduro’s cabinet some of them amassing more than 500.000 dollars…Elena Riu
