If you’ve had a contract in the post to play with the Lucerne Festival Strings, be careful: it may be fake.

Here’s the Festival’s statement:

WARNING: Fake-Contracts circulating! Please be careful when you received an invitation to perform as musician in a non-existing Lucerne Festival Strings tour by the following email address: deuber.d@yahoo.com. The contract looks deceptively real, even though the correspondence is with mistakes in writing! Please share.

N. B. ‘Mistakes in writing’ appear also in the official warning.

  • Thomas Silverberg says:

The German is worse than in a lot of ‘Phishing’ mails I’ve seen. Big red flag.

    • Clive Dunn says:

I cannot read or understand a single word of German, but I noticed the email used yahoo instead of a proper address. There are cons like this all over the place not just in music contracts.

  • Furzwängler says:

The German is so full of mistakes it’s almost hilarious. How anyone could be taken in by this guff beats me.

  • Alexander says:

Some are ready to submit the details of their credit cards including CSC to get the contract 😉 …. remember those funny e-mails from “Nigerian attorney” they sent ages ago – hopefully that d.deuber is that attorney’s distant relative 😉

  • Fionn MacCumhaill says:

A yahoo webmail is a real give away! I see in the UK you can now make a Will by Text. Complete madness, mine is written on illuminated Vellum.
