Munich have got Diana Damrau to replace the Bulgarian soprano in La Traviata.

Baden-Baden have called in Marina Rebeka to play opposite Joyce DiDonato and Rolando Villazon in La Clemenza di Tito.

It’s turning into the summer of no-shows.

    Ugh! Damrau is so mannered!

  2. Olassus says:

Rebeka is a mistake for the Clemenza. Poor Italian. Will damage DG’s recording project. Too bad! That is not a tough role to cast.

  3. John Borstlap says:

Also a recital in London in the Cardogan Hall with works by John Cage had to be postponed since no pianist could be found to substitute for [redacted] who got a hand injury yesterday resulting from a complex fingering in Bach’s WTK. Especially 4’33” requires a healthy hand (the right one, to turn the pages).
