Comments

  • John says:

Is there some difference between a ‘woman conductor’ and a ‘professional musician’ that I’m missing?

    • Emil says:

Yes. All (professional) female conductors are professional musicians; not all professional musicians are women (or conductors).

  • Peter says:

Exploiting women loke this, to gain media attention one could not gain through artistic merits, is not ok.

  • Andrew says:

Why would you think they have no artistic merit? Seems to me that you are just a troll.

    • Peter says:

I didn’t say they have no artistic merits. I said they can’t gain media attention as easily through them as they can through such program exploiting Zeitgeist feminist ideology issues. It says something about the media too…

      • Bruce says:

NOBODY, male or female, (no matter how talented) can gain media attention as easily through their artistic merits as they can through their looks. There was a time when you could make it big without being beautiful, but that time is past.

        • Bruce says:

          ^ even if they try.

        • Analeck Kram-Hammerbauer says:

When was this golden time you were referring to? Do you have specific supporting examples? I would like to know more about that. Thank you.

The only example I could think of now is Franz Schubert, who was considered a short fat ugly mushroom (Schwammerl) in his milieu. But the success and fame he was able to obtain in his life time was still relatively humble in comparison to his real artistic merit and what he had created.
