The German violinist Isabelle Faust has changed agents, signing with New York-based opus3 for North America representation.

She was previously with Bill Capone’s AMG. For the rest of the world she remains with Simmenauer Artists in Berlin.

Comments

  • Derek says:

I cannot comment on the change of agent but Isabelle Faust is a brilliant violinist and a genuine, dedicated artist.
She gave an outstanding performance of the Britten violin concerto in concert and at a rehearsal I attended some time ago.

  • Sonia Simmenauer says:

    Hello Norman,
in a time, when journalists are being put in jail for trying to point out some truth and so many deplore the waves of fakenews, which can destroy reputations and lives within minutes, one could expect from a renowned journalist, that his first priority would be to make sure, his news are
    a/ relevant and
    b/ correct.
Having been an artist agent for decades now, I can assure you, that it makes no difference for the public, where an artist is being represented. Most of the people in the audience do not even know, what our profession is about. So, for those wanting to hear Isabelle Faust: whether she is being represented here or there, is not relevant at all.

However if you still think, these news are more relevant then just adding to dull gossip, then please do take one minute more and check your information; we have known each other for a very long time and in other cases you did find my e-mail adress easily.
Ms. Faust is and remains in general management with us and our correct name is Impresariat Simmenauer in Berlin. Opus 3 Artists will act as her North American management, refering to us.

    With best wishes,
    Sonia

    • Rodrigo says:

Actually, Sonia, you underestimate both Norman’s readership here and the general public in general.

Many of us readers here are prof. players ourselves. We are EXTREMELY in interested in who is representing the artists we play with. And the conductors we play for. Our managements like to know. It is to your advantage, my dear. We recommend soloists and our mgnts. need to know who to contact about engaging them.

What a pompous oversight on your part to think that what you do, the representation of artists, should be hidden behind some protective screen from the general public, particularly those of us who work with your artists.

  • Opus 3 Artists says:

    Dear Mr. Lebrecht,

We would like to clarify that Opus 3’s representation of Isabelle Faust is in North America and Canada only. Sonia Simmenauer remains her general manager.

    Opus 3 Artists

  • herrera says:

I’m always surprised by how many firms there are and how segmented the market is, I mean, how much money can there possibly be in classical music?

If you divide up Lang Lang by market, each firm makes barely enough to cover overhead…

  • Jacob Rees Mogg says:

Really she should have gone to Dunmore & Locke, they certainly know a top drawer artiste, they had Mrs Patrick Campbell on their books for years.

    • Sylvia says:

Ah yes, she said I don’t care what they do so long as they don’t do it in the street and frighten the horses.
