Doug Sheldon and Stefana Atlas have taken on Jeannette Sorrell, founder of Apollo’s Fire, for global management.

Very different from the usual kind of Cami conductor.

What is a ‘usual CAMI conductor’. A quick perusal of their list shows a broad range of conductors from Levine, Gergiev, Ozawa to Grazinyte-Tyla.

In this context, I presume that a “usual CAMI conductor” is one that conducts conventional (modern-instrument) symphony orchestras rather than period-instrument orchestras.

Sorrell appears to be the only 18th-century-music specialist on CAMI’s roster.

She probably didn’t sign with CAMI just to get period-band gigs; I presume she wants to follow the likes of Nicholas McGegan, Harry Bicket, Emmanuelle Haïm, Ton Koopman, etc. into the business of guest-conducting conventional symphony orchestras (who pay higher fees) in Messiah, the Bach Passions, and such.
