The number 27 has acquired an ominous aura after the deaths of Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse at that age. Their deaths were believed to be substance-related.

Yesterday, Thomas Fekete, founder and guitarist of surf-rock band Surfer Blood, died at 27 of a rare cancer, bravely borne. A terrible loss.

Although this is very tragic news I think this is pushing the “… inside track of classical music and related cultures” a bit

The number 27 gained an ominous aura after the SUICIDES of young artists who seemingly had all to live for but all of whom were world-famous but all of whom struggled with serious addiction issues. To lump this young man, who was not world-famous, and who died of cancer long before his time, with these people is an insult of the most egregious kind to his memory and to his grieving family and friends.

This is the most distasteful thing I have ever seen on Slipped Disc. Leader in a crowded field.
