Atlanta gets competent management, at last
mainThe Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has been through hell and high water this past year. The players suffered a 10-week lockout, a hapless president was fired by the board and there has been a state of cold war with the Woodruff Arts Center.
Finally, the board has got its act together.
Jennifer Barlament, general manager of the Cleveland Orchestra since 2013, has been named executive director of the ASO, starting January. She comes from an impressive management team and knows which way is up.
Go, Jen.
Go, Jen. But go politely, if you want results.
It’s the South.
Jennifer and I have known each other since her days with the Omaha Symphony.
She will do a fine job in Atlanta and it is a good move for all involved.
