French city slashes 7 million from culture

The mayor of Lyon announced today that he’s clawing back 7m Euros from the culture budget.

The Orchestre National de Lyon will have its grant frozen and there will be definite cuts in the Opéra subsidy.

The mayor, Gerard Collomb, blamed a shrinkage of central government funding.
