Minnesota Orchestra gives its boss a longer run

Kevin Smith was brought in as caretaker manager in August after the board fired Michael Henson, its glove-puppet during the disastrous lockout.

Smith, 63, has done so well, they have extended him to 2017-18.

The former Minnesota Opera chief had to be plucked out of retirement. But he seems to be enjoying a second lease on musical life. Read here.

    What a difference a year makes. Kevin officially started in July, but his influence was felt as soon as he was appointed (while Henson was still around, but we knew who was now in charge). He has worked miracles. We are all HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!
