Meryl Streep studied singing with Estelle Liebling, Beverly Sills’ teacher. Two of her early stage successes were in musical theater: the Weill/Brecht Happy End and the Elizabeth Swados experimental musical Alice at the Palace. The latter of these was recorded for television and there are even clips of it on YouTube.
Streep has also had significant singing scenes in the films Death Becomes Her and Postcards from the Edge.
And, oh yes, she starred in the film adaptation of Mamma Mia.
