Lot to learn, you say. But I’m guessing he knows all he needs to know: the state should shrink, the arts aren’t that important compared to the rest of his portfolio, state arts patronage is an elitist waste of money and should be slashed.

Go on, toryboy, prove me wrong.

  • Mark Stratford says:

I think the full title is Secretary for “Culture, Media, Sport and Equalities”

These investment banking types usually know their sport and his rapid ascent in Tory party shows he understands the media.

Shall we all start looking out for him at UK cultural events ?

  • Leon Bosch says:

One of these days, heaven forbid, we may end up with a Secretary of State for Culture +++ who knows the difference between a Sonata and a Symphony?

  • Not just a banker, but a merchant banker!
